Mother,
I have fear of air.

Look at the stars.
They do not belong to anyone,
neither the bishop
nor the mayor.

Mother, I cannot hear you.
I am hungry!

Uuuuuuuh ...! Sleep, my child;
or the air will come
to take the children
who are hungry.

Fear of air

Fear is an inherent characteristic of the human condition. It's a survival and defense mechanism that enables us to react swiftly in dangerous situations.

The origin of this emotion might stem from the perception of actual danger or from an unfounded fear, also known as neurotic fear.

Are our fears real, or are they mostly unfounded? Can we distinguish between our own judgment and that imposed by others? What kind of person would we be if we didn't experience unfounded fears?

The project

An initial version of "Miedo al aire" was selected by Jesús Micó (curator of the 2011 edition) as the winner of the Nuevos Talentos contest in the Encuentros Fotográficos de Gijón 2012. The definitive development of the project was supervised by curator Alejandro Castellote.

As a result, the series was exhibited at the Barjola Museum in Gijón in 2012. It was also displayed at the Fundación Mapfre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2013 and at Convento de Santo Domingo in La Laguna in 2014.

The work has been recognized in contests such as PR - Month of Photography in Bratislava 2013 (Finalist), "Descubrimientos Photoespaña" - Photoespaña Festival 2014 (Finalist), and Leica Oskar Barnack - 2014 Edition (Finalist).

"Miedo al aire" comprises 24 photographs printed on Hahnemüle Photo Rag Ultrasmooth paper, 305 gr., ensuring the best quality and durability.

Regarding the sizes, the distribution of the images is as follows:

13 - 97 x 110 cm.

10 - 45 x 50.5 cm.

1 - 97 x 178.5 cm.
